rencana kenaikan BBM

pemerintah merencanakan kenaikan bahan bakar minyak (BBM) sekitar 30 persen untuk menyelamatkan APBN 2008. ini diakibatkan karena melonjaknya harga minyak dunia yang yang mencapai $120 AS per barel.kenaikan ini akan dialokasikan untuk program pengentasan kemiskinan, di antaranya BLT plus bagi masyarakat miskin.
kenaikan BBM ini mendapatkan penolakan dari beberapa kalangan diantaranya adalah dari kalangan DPR. kalangan DPR menolak karena dampaka dari kenaikan BBM tahun 2005 belum pulih benar sehingga akan menimbulkan gejolak sosial. selain itu, angka kemiskinan diperkirakan akan bertambah sekitar 3 juta orang, jika BBM kembali naik tahun ini.
kalangan mahasiswa di Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan juga mengadakan aksi penolakan. bahkan aksi ini sampai menimbulkan bentrokan. bentrokan ini terjadi saat para pengunjuk rasa yang berlangsung di depan Kampus UIN di Jalan Sultan Alaudin MAkassar dibubarkan paksa aparat kepolisian Polresta Makassar Timur lantaran dianggap menganggu kelancaran arus lalu lintas.
namun upaya pembubaran paksa ini mendapat perlawanan sehingga bentrokan antara mahasiswa dan petugas pun tidak terelakan lagi. Akibat bentrokan ini 5 mahasiswa luka terkena pukulan, sementara dari pihak polisi 6 orang juga mengalami luka-luka. Selain itu sejumlah kaca ruko disekitar kampus pecah serta belasan motor rusak terkena lemparan batu. sedikitnya 9 mahasiswa yang terlibat dalam insiden ini diamankan aparat kepolisian di Mapolresta Makassar Timur. Sementara yang mengalami luka dilarikan ke rumah sakit terdekat.
